The event will be
on Saturday, September 25, from 10:00 am
until 4:00 pm. This will be a combination
airport open house, car & truck show, featuring
antiques, to hot rods, to modern stock. In
addition to cars there will be motorcycles and
airplanes from antiques to warbirds to
homebuilts. All of the vehicles registered will
be vying for trophies in many categories.
In addition to
the competing vehicles and airplanes there will
be static displays of some of aviations most
famous airplanes such as the P-51 mustang,
Stearman bi-plane, and a fully restored 1933
Lockheed Electra. There will also be many new
airplanes as well as helicopters.
In
addition to all of the above there will be a
Kids Fun Zone provided by Jacksonville Fire and
Rescue, live entertainment, food, prizes, and
vendors.
This should be a
great day with an anticipated turnout of 8 -
12000 people. The event will also be a
fundraiser for EAA Chapter 193, a Not-for-Profit
organization dedicated to preserving general
aviation which has played such a critical role
in the development of our Nation.
It is
through the efforts of our organization that we
can develop local programs to bring our youth
into the many different areas of aviation, from
introduction to flight through our Young Eagles
program, to introduction of aircraft
construction methods, from electrical, to
mechanical, to building techniques, that may
give that spark to a young man or woman to
consider aviation as a career.
We do this
by acquiring restoration projects and kits that
we build or restore hand in hand with these kids
using the skills and knowledge of our many
members who are certified airframe and power
plant mechanics as well as aircraft
electricians.
We also conduct
free ground schools for anyone interested in
becoming a pilot. Many of us were lucky enough
to have had mentors that fueled our fire for
flight. Many of today's kids do not have that,
and we ask that you help us give this gift to
others.
We have many
Sponsorship levels, please take a moment and see
which is the best fit for your company or
organization.
